Rock resurrects Quaddra AMD-based notebooks
Now with added Turion™

UK system builder Rock is to revive its Quaddra notebook range, this time equipping the machines with AMD's Turion 64 processor family.
Rock is preparing two Quaddras, dubbed the 'Mobility' and 'Performance' models, respectively. The first is driven by a Turion 64 MT-34, clocked at 1.8GHz and consuming up to 25W of power. It's backed up by 1GB of 400MHz DDR SDRAM, an 80GB, 5400rpm HDD, an 8x dual-layer DVD writer, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
The machine's graphics are powered by an ATI Mobility Radeon X700 chip connected to 256MB of dedicated video memory and a 17in LCD with X-Glass - Rock's answer to Sony's X-Black system, which makes for brighter, more vivid colours, less saturated black hues and wider viewing angles.
The Quaddra T64 Performance offers the same specification as the T64 Mobility, with the sole exception of the CPU, which in this case is a 35W Turion ML-42, clocked to 2.4GHz.
Both machines are pre-loaded with Windows XP Home Edition, and are offered with a three-year collect-and-return warranty. The Mobility model costs £939 including VAT, the Performance version £1056. The two machines go on sale on 8 December, Rock said. ®
