Asus has become the latest graphics card company to announce a board based on a high-speed version of ATI's Radeon X1800 XT chip. It claims the product is the fastest R520-based board yet.
Asus' EAX1800XT Top clocks its GPU to 700MHz, while the GDDR 3 memory is set to 1.6GHz effective - both above the 625MHz and 1.5GHz speeds Club 3D recently said its X1800 XT-based board, the Radeon X1800 XT, would be tuned to.
The Asus card ships with 512MB of video memory on board, connected across a 256-bit bus. There are twin DVI connectors on the card, and Asus bundles a DVI-to-D-Sub adaptor. The card also sports video-in and video-out ports, the latter with HDTV support.
To tempt movie-going gamers, Asus said it will bundle the official King Kong game, released to tie in with Peter 'Lord of the Rings' Jackson's remake of the monster-movie classic next month. The company said it was chucking in one of its XitePad gamepads too. Pad plus game, it claimed, are worth around £60 separately.
The card bundle will retail for around £465 inc. VAT. ®
