Landscape? Portrait? Both!

Asus has announced its first 19in LCD monitor - pitching its 'zero bright dot' replacement policy and the screen's 90° landscape-to-portrait swivel feature. The screen has a 16:10 aspect ratio and a native resolution of 1400 x 900. The image is enhanced with Asus' Splendid video technology, the company said, and there are twin 2W speakers on board to boost the host computer's audio output.
The PW191's specs include a 0.285mm pixel pitch, a 500:1 contrast ratio, an 8ms response time, and a colour range of 16.2m hues. There's a DVI-D port for digital connections, but the screen also has a VGA connector for older graphics cards. It has two 3.5mm stereo jack sockets, one for earphones, the other to hook up the host system. Asus bundles all the appropriate cables.
The company said it will replace the display free of charge if just one duff pixel is spotted on the screen in its first year of use. For the following two years, Asus operates a collect and return warranty.
