3GSM Fujitsu Siemens today launched its Pocket Loox T series 3G-based PDA phones, as anticipated (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/02/08/fujitsu_siemens_t_series_launch/), and pledged to ship the 802.11g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 and GPS-equipped handsets - one with a two megapixel camera, the other without - next July.
The T810 and T830 - the one with the camera - will both ship with Microsoft's Push Direct Technology push email (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/02/13/ms_windows_mobile_push_email/) system
The 12.6 x 6.4 x 2.1cm devices are both based on 416MHz Intel XScale PXA270 processors, and are loaded with 128MB of ROM and 64MB of RAM - there's an SD IO slot for adding more. Each has a 2.4in, 240 x 240, 65,536-colour display.
Like HP's iPaq hw 6500 and 6900 series, and Palm's Treo line, the two new Loox models sport a QWERTY keyboard.
The T series' 3G radio is backed up by a tri-band (900/1800/1900MHz) GSM/GPRS radio. There's a removable 1500mAh battery, but FS didn't provide operating duration times for the device - much depends, of course, on whether you're making 3G or 2.5G calls, and whether you have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth enabled.
FS said the two handhelds will ship in July for €700, though it didn't say how much extra it planned to charge for the T830's camera. ®
