AMD re-schedules dual-core Turion 64 debut?

AMD may have put back the release of its anticipated dual-core Turion 64 X2 mobile processors to June, sources cited by website DailyTech have alleged. If the chip maker does indeed delay the chips' debut, it's also likely to reschedule the release of the parts' single-core siblings, the report claims.
The story's source said the Turion 64 X2's are codenamed 'Taylor' and will support 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM. They have 256KB of L2 cache per core, though AMD will also offer a 512KB cache-per-core variant, dubbed 'Trinidad', and a single-core version called 'Keene'. Keene will form the basis for future Mobile Sempron CPUs.
Both chips will sit on Socket S1 motherboards, and since AMD's other next-generation, DDR 2-supporting CPU interconnects, one for servers, the other for desktops, are believed to be coming in June, it doesn't require a big leap of the imagination to see the chip maker deciding to release the mobile version in the same timeframe.
According to the site's source, the original launch date was 9 May, and it still seems possible that AMD may yet to choose to announce on that date.
Whenever the Turion 64 X2s arrive, the report reckons versions that support 800MHz DDR 2 will debut in H1 2007 using 'Tyler' and the Sempron single-core equivalent 'Sherman'. ®
