While Asus is pondering (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/01/16/asus_moots_lamborghini_phone/) whether to produce a Lamborghini-branded phone, Nokia beaten it to the finish line with a Aston Martin version of its Nokia 8800 handset. Like the cars, it's not cheap - Aston Martin wants a whopping £940 ($1,640/€1,353) for the device.
Mind you, it looks good. The "strictly limited edition" handset sports the AM logo laser etched onto its stainless steel sliding case. There's a special ringtone composed by Japanese muso Ryuichi 'Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence' Sakamoto and another that's essentially a recording of the Vantage's V8 engine revving up. AM has also bundled some suitably branded screensavers and wallpaper graphics.

The phone is a tri-band GSM/GPRS device with EDGE support. It has a 208 x 208, 262,144-colour display and a megapixel camera. The on-board music player supports MP3 and AAC songs, and the phone is based on Nokia's Series 40 UI.
The Nokia 8800 weighs 134g and measures 10.7 x 4.5 x 1.7cm. It's got a 600mAh battery, sufficient for up to three hours' talk time and eight days on stand-by.
The AM-branded 8800 is available now from the car maker (http://www.astonmartin.com) for £800 excluding VAT - £940 inclusive. ®
