Buffalo has upped the capacity of its TeraStation Pro network-attached storage (NAS) boxes to 2TB, an increase in data-archive space of 25 per cent. It also announced a 2TB version of its TeraStation Home Server (HS) unit, doubling the product's current capacity.
The HS box is pitched at consumers looking to store all their digital media on a single box and share it across a wired or wireless network. It's certified compatible with the DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) networked consumer electronics interoperability specification, and features integrated printer sharing, a file server and a media server from Mediabolic. It's got for USB 2.0 ports for the printer and extra storage.

The TeraStation Pro only has two USB 2.0 ports, but like the HS box it supports Gigabit Ethernet with Jumbo Frame speed boosting technology. Both machines support for RAID modes, which Buffalo calls Standard, Spanning, Mirroring and RAID D modes. They both use a journaled file system for rapid data recovery and ship with back-up software.
The Pro model now supports Active Directory member support.
The 2TB Pro is available now for around £1,200. The HS ships in May for around £1,100. ®
