Toshiba has updated its Nano-esque Gigabeat P digital music player family, adding an tweaked FM radio, a choice of three new colours and a fancy new face to the player's clock application.

The new models are available with either 512MB of 1GB of Flash memory, just like past Gigabeat P machines, though they now go by the names P5S and P10S, respectively. As before they sport a 1.1in, 96 x 96, 65,546-colour OLED screen and incorporate an FM tuner.
What's new is the ability to tune the radio manually - it was all automatic before - and to turn on an auto power off facility. The built in clock application now has an analogue face - a much-requested feature, Toshiba said. The new colours are white, red and black, though the red is only available in P5S form.
The players weigh just 50g and measure 8.2 x 3.2 x 1.3cm. The battery provides up to 14 hours music playback time, Toshiba said - the Gigabeat Ps support WMA, WMA DRM, MP3 and WAV formats.
Only available in Japan, the new Gigabeat Ps are expected to retail for around ¥14,000 ($120/£67) and ¥18,000 ($154/£86) for the 512MB and 1GB models. ®
