ECS mobo in the spotlight

Computex 2006 ATI was more interested in mentioning its upcoming RD600 chipset, but that didn't stop a lone LGA775-oriented RS600-based mobo being placed among a host of CrossFire 3200 for Socket AM2 boards the company had on display at Computex this week.
The board, from Elitegroup, has a single x16 PCI Express slot, accompanied by a x1 connector and a pair of old-style PCI slots. There are four 3Gbps SATA ports and the same number of DIMM slots. Alas, there's no HDMI connector, though the mid-range board is expected to boast a Radeon X700-class integrated GPU.
A separate demo rig, this time based on the RD600, proclaimed the new chipset will support "XpressRoute - for best CrossFire experience". Details are scarce, but presumably it's a PCI Express bus auto-overclock facility not unlike Nvidia's LinkBoost. As we reported last week, RD600 is indeed expected to feature just such an automatic overclocking system (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/06/02/ati_rd600_details/).
Indeed, the demo system signage proclaimed the board's scope for "massive FSB and memory overclocking". It also pointed to the chipset's Core 2 Duo support. ®
