Acer unveils 'pure, clean' laptop
It'll be all white on the night

Acer has unveiled its first all-white notebook, the MacBook-like TravelMate 3020. According to the company, the colour scheme conveys "images of pureness, cleanliness and maximum lightness". Apparently.
Hype aside, the spec's decent. The compact machine sports a 12.1in, 1,280 x 800 widescreen display driven by the 3020's Intel-made integrated chipset GMA 950 graphics core. The notebook is available with a range of Core Duo processors to choose from. It's Centrino-branded so there's 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi on board. Bluetooth 2.0's part of the package too.

The screen bevel integrates a 1.3 megapixel webcam. There's a motion sensor on each of the hard drive options that not only secures the drive when it detects sudden drops but can be used to warn the owner if the machine is moved.
The 3020 ships with Windows XP Pro, a one-year international carry-in warranty and a three-cell battery good. It weighs 1.5kg - the optical drive is external, alas. Acer did not provide pricing information. ®
