Apple has not only updated its iTunes music jukebox software but made a number of tweaks to various iPods' firmware. Both updates are available now through Mac OS X's Software Update utility, or from Apple's website.
iTunes 6.0.5 adds support for the Nike+iPod exercise feedback gadget Apple and Nike announced in May this year. The Bluetooth-based gizmo fits in special Nike trainers and beams pedometer and other data to a dongle attached to an iPod's Dock connector to be displayed on screen.
The update also fixes a security issue in which a "maliciously-crafted AAC file could cause iTunes to terminate or potentially execute arbitrary code".
iPod Updater 2006-06-28 incorporates new firmware for the Nano, Shuffle and the fifth-generation iPod. All three devices receive a range of unspecified bug fixes, while the Nano also gets Nike+iPod support. Updated Shuffles have a volume limit applied.
