New-look NV series unveiled

Samsung today launched a stylish trio of flagship digital cameras the company hopes will win it a host of new fans when they ship in September. The luxurious-looking gadgets incorporate hi-res video shooting and multimedia playback.

The NV series comprises three models: the NV3, NV7 OPS and NV10. The first two are 7.2 megapixel machines, the former with an integrated media player - think of it as a PMP that also takes pictures. The NV7 OPS - the OPS stands for 'Optical Picture Stabilisation' - adds anti-shake technology and a 7x optical zoom.

The NV10 has a 10.1 megapixel image sensor and a 2.5in LCD viewfinder on the back. Like the NV7 OPS, it has anti-shake and low-light signal processing. All three cameras can take "TV quality" 640 x 480, 30fps MPEG 4 video with pause and zoom, though the NV3 will go up to 720 x 480.

The NV7 OPS is priced at £299, the NV10 at £279 and the NV3 at £229. All three are expected to be available by September, Samsung pledged. ®
