Intel will extend its Celeron M low-cost mobile processor line-up on 3 September - the day that will see the debut of the anticipated low-voltage Core Duo L2500. The new arrivals will push down the prices of existing models.
The new Celeron Ms are the 440 and 450, clocked at 1.86GHz and 2GHz, respectively. The 65nm single-core parts both contain 1MB of L2 cache and operate across a 533MHz frontside bus.
The two chips will ship for $107 and $134, respectively, roadmaps shown by Chinese-language site HKEPC reveal. The currently available Celeron M 430 and 420 will see their prices fall from $134 and $107 both to $86 on 3 September. That's the price Intel currently charges for the 1.46GHz Celeron M 410.
On the same day, Intel with introduce the Core Duo L2500, a 1.8GHz, 667MHz FSB, 2MB L2 low-voltage processor at $316. The 1.66GHz L2400 current costs $316, but its price will fall to $284 on 3 September. The 1.5GHz L2300's price will remain at $284.
Intel will also pad out its ultra-low voltage Core Duo line-up on that day. Expect to see the arrival of the 1.06GHz, 533MHz FSB, 2MB L2 Core Duo U2400 for $262, joining the $289, 1.2GHz U2500, which Intel shipped earlier this month. ®
