AMD slashes prices by up to 61%
CPUs axed too

AMD has cut the prices of a number of mobile and desktop processors. It also dropped a number of CPUs from its price list too.
The Turion ML series of single-core CPUs saw prices fall today between 5.8 per cent and 25.7 per cent. The ML-30 and ML-28 were dropped from the price list, as were the MT-28 and MT-30. Other MT-series Turions were reduced in price by 5.7-16 per cent.
AMD cut dual-core Athlon 64 X2 prices by a whopping 48.4-57 per cent, but again many family members were dropped - unsurprisingly, given how hard it's been to buy them of late. Gone are the 4800+, 4400+ and 4000+ chips, in Socket AM2, Socket 939 and Energy Efficient forms. The small form-factor EE 3800+ is still on the list, but we'd hazard a guess it's not long for this world.
AMD dropped the Athlon FX-60, as anticipated, and reduced the price of the Socket AM2 FX-62 from $1,031 to $827, a fall of 19.8 per cent. The Socket 939 FX-62 is gone.
AMD also axed the single-core Athlon 64 4000+ and the 3700+. Other Athlon 64s saw their prices fall 51.9-61.3 per cent. The 3200+ made its debut on the list. Again, the small form-factor member of the family, the 3500+ EE remains listed but with no price.
Small form-factor Semprons also now appear unpriced, while the other budget-brand chips had their prices tweaked too.
AMD is next expected to prune its prices on 23 October. ®
