Ultra-mobile PC (UMPC) maker TabletKiosk this week extended its line of handheld computers, bringing a pair of machines based on Intel processors to the two VIA-based UMPCs the company launched in May this year.

The new models - the eo UMPC i7209 and i7210 - are equipped with a 900MHz Celeron M and 1GHz Pentium M, respectively. The lower-end machine has 512MB of DDR 2 and a 30GB, 4,200rpm hard drive. The i7210 ups memory to 1GB and hard drive capacity to 60GB.
Both machines are based on Intel's 915GMS integrated chipset and sport a 7in, 800 x 480 display. Each has Bluetooth 1.2 on board, along with 802.11b/g Wi-Fi. They're due to ship by the end of August, TabletKiosk said, for $1,099 and $1,399, respectively. They'll be available from TabletKiosk's website (http://www.tabletkiosk.com?www.reghardware.co.uk).

TabletKiosk continues to offer the eo v7110, based on VIA's ultra-low voltage 1GHz C7-M chip, but the addition of Intel-based models will come as a blow to the Taiwanese chip maker, which was quick to promote the v7110 at launch as a major thumbs-up for its mobile-oriented x86-compatible C7-M processor line-up. ®
