Intel has unveiled an own-brand desktop motherboard based on its G965 integrated chipset pitched at a range of processors including the chip giant's latest Core 2 Duo dualies.
The Desktop Board DG965RY Classic Series has an LGA775 processor mounting and four DDR 2 SDRAM DIMM slots. Up to 8GB of 800MHz memory are supported. The chipset provides Intel's GM X3000 GPU core, but there's a x16 PCI Express slot for an add-in graphics card.

Further expansion comes courtesy of three PCI Express x1 slots and three PCI connectors. The board has ten USB ports and a pair of FireWire interfaces: a port at the back and a header at the front for a case-mounted port. The DG965RY provides legacy serial, parallel and diskette ports.
There are four SATA and a single parallel ATA interface. The board supports 5.1-channel audio through a SigmaTel STC9227 codec chip and Gigabit Ethernet controlled by Intel's own 82566DC chip.
Available now, the DG965RY cost around $130 (£69/€102). ®
