ATI shows Dell XPS 700 with X1950 XTX CrossFire
Dell XPS gets CrossFire treatment

IFA 06 Reg Hardware spotted a Dell XPS 700 powered by an ATI X1950 XTX CrossFire setup on ATI’s stand at IFA. Rather interestingly this configuration is not as yet available from Dell and indicates the use of a different motherboard than the Nvidia one in the current XPS 700 systems.

Current models of the XPS 700 are based on an Nvidia nForce 590 SLI motherboard, but as you can’t run CrossFire on these boards, it’s likely that Dell is either using a board based on the Intel 975X chipset or the yet unreleased ATI RD600 chipset. The red colour of the front bezel also differs from the current model and is more reminiscent of the limited edition XPS 600 renegade, although without the flames down the sides.
There were no details of when this new system will ship, nor any pricing details. ®
