Intel reportedly readying low-end mobile Core 2 Duo
T5200 to tackled entry-level Turion X2s?

Intel will ship its anticipated low-end mobile Core 2 Duo T5200 dual-core processor next month, it has been claimed by Taiwanese notebook manufacturer moles. The part has not, apparently, been listed on recent Intel mobile roadmaps.
According to sources cited by DigiTimes, the T5200 is intended to bolster Intel position in the region between its Core 2 Duo T5500 and the older Core Duo line-up. It will go head-to-head with entry-level AMD Turion 64 X2 chips, the sources say.
The arrival of the T5200 - presumably, like the T5500, with 2MB of shared L2 cache on board - is expected to be followed by a similar but desktop oriented Core 2 Duo CPU, the E4300, in Q1 2007. Earlier Intel roadmaps also showed an E4200 with a Q4 2006 release date, but that now seems to have been dropped. ®
