Japanese memory retailer CFD has said Buffalo will soon ship DDR 2 memory modules clocked to a whopping 1.2GHz, claiming the parts can be set to run even faster: 1.25GHz for a PC2-10000 rating.
Sold under the Firestix brand, the 1.2GHz - aka PC2-9600 - is available in two two-DIMM packs, on with a pair of 512MB modules, the other with two 1GB DIMMs. CFD said each memory module had a 5-6-6-18 latency rating.
The announcement comes almost a month after US memory specialist OCZ unveiled a 1.12GHz - aka PC2-9000 - DDR 2 DIMM. OCZ's announcement came two days after Corsair touted a fan-cooled 1.11GHz DDR 2 DIMM.
CFD said Buffalo's fast Firestix DIMMs will go on sale at the end of October, the company said. It's leaving the price to resellers to set. ®
