Apple has posted Mac OS X 10.4.8, offering the operating system upgrade for both client and server, and for PowerPC- and Intel-based Macs. The patch incorporates a stack of tweaks, including all of Apple's most recent security updates. You can download the update using the OS' own Software Update utility or from Apple's website (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads?www.reghardware.co.uk).

You can also find details of what the upgrade fixes here (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304200?www.reghardware.co.uk). Beyond the security updates, the key patches appear to be enhancements to the Rosetta PowerPC compatibility system that ships with Intel-based Macs, some tweaks to the OS' USB support, better support for some digital cameras and better OpenType compatibility for Microsoft Word. ®
