Following the trend of stacking internal hard drives externally? Japanese storage accessory specialist Century may have come up with a system to make stacking more simple. Dubbed the Naked Lunch Box - whether in homage to William Burroughs, or because the unit's see-through isn't clear - it's a plastic casing for 3.5in HDDs that doubles up as a stacking tool and a carry case, the company claimed.

The Lunch Box allows sufficient space for the attachment of power and data cables - IDE and SATA are both supported. The unit's moulded from a single piece of hard plastic, so the hinge and case clips takes no extra room. Century has even equipped the Lunch Box with four rubber feet and suitably indents on the top of the case to facilitate easy stacking.
Moulded pegs inside the case fit into notches on the drive to prevent the HDD from rattling about within the Lunch Box. And there are plenty of holes cut through to ensure a good airflow around the drive, Century said. There are black and white versions to suite your mood.

The Lunch Box retails for around ¥980 ($8/£4/€7). More details on Century's Japanese-language website (http://www.century.co.jp/index.html?www.reghardware.co.uk). ®
