Ladies and gentlemen, the world has another UMPC. The latest is the Vega from Japanese supplier Brulé - the crème de la crème of ultra-mobile PC providers, perhaps? - which is based around a 4.3in, 800 x 480 display and an AMD Geode LX800 processor. There's 512MB of RAM on board and a 4,200rpm 30GB hard drive.

As you can see from the picture below, the Vega's not exactly skinny, coming in at just shy of 3cm thick. Its vital statistics are 15.8 x 7.8 x 2.8cm and 480g. Manufacturer Raon Digital from Korea has decided to forego wireless connectivity - the Vega is limited to USB and VGA portage, though you can buy a USB Wi-Fi adaptor as an optional extra.
Unlike other UMPCs, the Vega runs Windows XP Home Edition. With a standard battery, you'll get less than two hours' run time, the spec sheet reveals, but a beefier "bulk battery" will take the total to 5.5 hours. Brulé doesn't say what that'll do for the weight...

If you fancy getting your hands on what appears to be the world's only AMD-based UMPC, Brulés website (http://brule.co.jp/vega/main.shtml?www.reghardware.co.uk) has it on sale for ¥139,800 ($1,167/£629/€933). ®
