AMD has cut the prices of its Turion 64 X2, Athlon 64 FX, Athlon 64 and a number of its Sempron chips, the company announced today. CPU prices fell by up to 35.8 per cent.
The four-strong dual-core Turion 64 X2 line is now 16.3-25.7 per cent less expensive than before, with the biggest reduction being made to the top-of-the-range TL-60. The prices of single-core Turions were left unchanged, though AMD has dropped the ML-36 from the line-up.
The Athlon 64 FX-62 is now 13.8 per cent cheaper - its price was today cut from $827 to $713. The single-core Athlon 64 3800+ now costs $108, down 3.6 per cent from the $112 it cost yesterday.
At the low end, AMD added the Sempron 3800+ to its desktop CPU range. It's clocked at 1.8GHz, contains 256KB of L2 cache and costs $108. Other desktop Sempron prices remain the same, though AMD dropped the 2800+ from its price list.
AMD added the Socket S1 Mobile Sempron 3600+, a $134 part clocked to 2GHz and with 256KB of L2 cache on board. The other Socket S1 Mobile Semprons saw their prices cut by 19.6-35.8 per cent. AMD now charges 26.5-31.2 per cent less for Socket 754 Mobile Semprons. The prices of Mobile Semprons for full-size notebooks were not changed. ®
