Shuttle ships gamer-friendly SFF PC

A well-specced XPC P2 3700G doesn't come cheap, though

Shuttle today said it had managed to squeeze all the components necessary for a top-of-the-line gaming machine into one of its XPC small form-factor PC cases, claiming the result to be the "performance winner". It should be, for the price...

The XPC P2 3700G is based on Shuttle's XPC Barebone SD37P2 chassis (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/09/15/review_shuttle_xpc_sd37p2/). It comes pre-installed with an Intel 975X-based motherboard, Core 2 Extreme X6800 CPU, 4GB of 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM in dual-channel configuration, a 400GB Samsung SATA hard drive and a 14x DVD write with dual-layer media support.

Graphics come courtesy of an Nvidia GeForce 7950 GX2 dual-GPU board. Other refinements include a 22-in-one memory card reader and Gigabit Ethernet.

The whole lot costs a whopping €3,044 ($3,856/£2,043) - and that's before you've added local sales tax - so it's good to know you get a two-year collect-and-return warranty in the box.

Fortunately for folks on a budget, Shuttle is also offering the P2 3700G with a choice of lesser CPUs, GPUs, less capacious hard drives and smaller amounts of memory, pushing the price down to a baseline €1,163 ($1,473/£781). ®
