License Fees?

Posted Tuesday 31st October 2006 08:57 GMT

What about license fees?

This has always been highly debated in the UK with the expansion of IP delivered TV.

Would you need a UK TV license to watch TV in the UK?

I would suggest that the BBC would be very keen to exploit this new transmission technology.

Especially as they are offering "free subscriptions" compared with their rivals.

However when you consider that a TV license costs around £120 in the UK and they are charging £5 per month per channel (- BBC), it's really not that bad. It's just a shame that you have to pay for the whole channel and not just the content you want.

You may want to watch "The Gadget Show" on channel 5, but probably don't want a re-run of Trisha under the same contract.

Well as channel 4 would leave us to believe; "You decide..."

Radio should take priority

I don't know why they are promoting this as a TV phone. The TV reception is generally poor, but the DAB radio works really well and it must be the smallest and cheapest portable DAB radio available.
