AMD posts Catalyst patch
CrossFire DirectX video acceleration added

AMD has posted fresh versions of its Windows and Linux Catalyst graphics driver package. The update takes the code to release 6.12. The Windows incarnation introduces the ability to accelerate DirectX video playback across multiple GPUs in CrossFire configuration.
The new software also fixes a series of issues with AMD's own Catalyst Control Center utility, PowerDVD and games Neverwinter Nights and Black & White 2. However, AMD warned users not to apply the update if they're running Stanford University's Folding@Home protein synthesis app - the new fixes un-fix something in the Stanford code. AMD pledged to sort this out in the next Catalyst release.
On the Linux side, Catalyst now supports the ATI Radeon X1650 chip, X.Org 7.2 RC2 and OpenSUSE 10.2. Once again, it implements a number of tweaks and bug-fixes.
Catalyst 6.12 is available now from AMD's ATI website. ®
