Matrox has extended its Extio line of monitor and peripheral extension modules. The Extio F1220 allows users to tuck away systems but routing display, audio, USB and Firewire data down a 250m cable and into the Extio, which can sit on a desk connected to multiple monitors, keyboard, mouse, etc.

The F1220 has front-mounted audio, two Firewire and four USB ports. Round the back are two more USB connectors and four display ports - two DVI and two VGA - though only two screens can be connected at any one time. All the ports, of whatever kind, are fed from a PCI or PCIe card in the host machine.
The F1220 will ship in Q2. Matrox did not disclose pricing. ®
