AMD chipset roadmap does include Intel
ATI acquisition changes nothing

AMD will continue to develop chipsets for Intel processors, the company has apparently claimed, although it also admits it's not shooting for marketshare dominance.
So said AMD sales and marketing VP Jochen Polster this week, according to a DailyTech report. Polster said the company wants a decent share of the third-party Intel-oriented chipset market.
Of course, whether Intel will let it is another matter. Some observers have claimed Intel yanked the licence ATI signed in order to produce Intel chipsets when ATI was acquired by AMD, but others have said that's not the case.
"Our policy is that Intel has always been willing to license its technologies and the technologies of others in exchange for fair value," a spokesman told Register Hardware today. So if AMD is willing to cough up the right price why not license it bus technology?
Of course, AMD might not want to, but since it's working hard to stress how open it is to other firms' technologies, it can't very well remain closed to Intel processors.
