Sony Ericsson's latest 3G Walkman phone will reach consumers next quarter, the handset company said today. So will a pair of clip-on speakers - a bid to appeal to all those kids who don't like keeping their music to themselves.

The W660 sports a 2in, 176 x 220, 262,144-colour display, a two-megapixel main camera and a more basic digicam for video calls. The handset will come with a 512MB Memory Stick Micro card for song storage, and music player software that will also display album art. The handset has Bluetooth, over which it can stream stereo audio.

Best of all, it's a skinny unit - just 1.5cm thick and weighing a mere 93g. Still, it doesn't have quite the wow factor that Sony Ericsson's slimine W880 Walkman (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/02/06/sony_ericsson_walkman_phone_launch/) has... Sony Ericsson claimed a GSM talk time of up to six hours, falling to 2.5 hours in 3G mode. It'll stay operational on stand-by ofr up to 360 hours.

The MPS-75 speakers clip onto the base of the phone and incorporate an antenna to connect the handset's FM radio to the airwaves. Like the W660, the MPS-75 goes on sale in Q2. The W660 will come in a choice of black or 'rose' red.
