Comments on ‘AMD launches Phenom brand’

Sounds like Pentium?

Is this a ploy by AMD's marketing division to confuse consumers and make Phenom read/sound like Pentium

re: Sounds like Pentium?

ummm... yeah... because AMD *really* wants customers to confuse their newest line of processors with chips from 1991. wtf.

re: Sounds like Pentium?

I dunno if its an attempt to sound like pentium, however the pentium brand is very strong. There are still many people who buy Pentium 4s and Pentiums Ds asumeing that they are the best. Phenom is a nice name though, ive always hated Athlon.

Sound's more like AMD's past brands than Intel's

Athlon, Duron, Opteron, Sempron, Phenom.

I think I see what they're up to.

Which is the best Linux for laptops?

I have been starting to venture into the Linux/Unix world, currently using the Ubuntu 8.04 on my ThinkPad X60. But is there a better distro for mobiles?
