Sony is to update the PlayStation 3 system software today, rolling out a firmware tweak that allows PSOne, PS2 and DVD movies to be upscaled by the console to full 1080p HD resolution via HDMI. Well, if you've got the right kind of telly, of course...
PS3 Firmware 1.80 also rolls out internet-spanning remote control using a PlayStation Portable. The PS3 itself can now grab content from locally networked DLNA-compatible devices and play it back on a TV screen. DLNA devices are certified by the Digital Living Network Alliance, an industry body that promotes connectivity between devices in the home.
Sony's PS3: now DNLA friendly
Going the other way, photographs kept on the PS3's hard drive can now be sent to hard copy on Epson printers.
