Samsung has released a QWERTY keypad inspired slider phone which should make text messages, instant messages and e-mails as easy as child’s play. So if you’re differently abled in the text messaging department or just part of the firm’s “message-centric” target market, the Blast handset could be right up your alley.
The manufacturer claims the handset provides “ample” space to let your fingers move at a faster pace, which in turn allows for more intuitive typing. It also claimed the additional typing space enables greater letter and word control, so misspelt ‘txt msgs’ could become a thing of the past.
The Blast promises messaging ease
The Blast measures 10 x 5 x 1cm and is quad-band, operating over GSM 850, 900, 1800 and 1900MHz. A microSD memory slot handles cards up to 2GB cards and it has Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity.
It also has a 1.3-megapixel camera, with 4x zoom, to keep you amused and a 176 x 220 pixel TFT display. The five hours of battery talk time is about average and it will provide up to eight days life in standby mode.

Unfortunately, the Blast is available only available in the US for the time being, with T-Mobile bagging exclusive distribution rights. Once messaging gets boring, the service provider enables picture postcards with accompanying audio commentary to be created on the phone and sent over its network.
