Another runner has jointed race to be first to release the world's smallest USB Bluetooth pick-up. Japan's Princeton today launched its PTM-UBT3S, pledging to bring it to market in September.

The diminutive 'daptor - it's 1.9 x 1.4 x 0.5cm and weighs a feathery 5.5g - provides Bluetooth 2.0+EDR connectivity and will be compatible with Windows Vista and Mac OS X systems, Princeton said.

The product sets Princeton against US-based Newton Peripherals, which launched its tiny MoGo Dapter back in January, though it's not due to go on sale until sometime this coming autumn. It too supports Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. It measures 1.8 x 0.9 x 0.7cm and weighs 2.5g.

Next we have Logitech's alternative, announced in July and due to go on sale this month, potentially making it the first of the three to arrive. It's adaptor will ship with the new VX Nano cordless mouse.

The PTM-UBT3S is set to retail in Japan for ¥2,480 ($21/£11/€16).
