Comments on: Manhunt 2 tweaked to beat US sales ban

And apparently...

They're remaking Star Wars with all the guns replaced with walkie talkies.

Star Wars...

I hear this time round Darth and Obi Wan are fighting with plastic butter knives...

originals please, for those of us old enough to have common sense

So when can we download the originals :)

september

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 10:56 GMT

play.com still have it listed as a uk release on the 28th Sept

amazon haven't got the game listed at all as far as i could see

In other news....

There's a Wii controller enabled version of manhunt...!

I'll prolly buy it just to annoy the stupid "raters"

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 11:20 GMT

Who do they think they are to decide what game is appropriate?

Surely they should take a look at every single stupid game then?

Sims and Sims2 lets one drown people (make them swim in the pool, delete the ladder) or set them on fire (lock them in a room).

I guess next time someone drowns, EA will be blamed then?

GTA syndrome anyone?

Or perhaps Counter-Strike should be banned too? It encourages violence.

But then, why not Monkey Island too? It encourages piratey behaviour matey...

They're just R.E.T.A.R.D.S , that's my personal rating for people I wish weren't alive.

Congrats take 2, I hope it sells well.

But...

Games like this are silly - what is the point of them?

Wow, what a year!!

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 12:26 GMT

Apparently the difference between 17+ and 18+ is so abhorrently huge, people need to make a stand against it :P

The mind boggles...

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 12:34 GMT

...that you Brits can write without the slightest hint of outrage about how your government can ban *everyone in the country* from playing a video game because it's unsuitable for minors! Is this the standard for media in Britain - suitable for everyone or allowed for no-one? As much as I hate '1984' references, it's getting hard to resist...

It would be nice to watch the actors being bored to death by the dialogue rather then just the audience.

Business Strategy

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 13:02 GMT

Is this now the de-facto strategy for game publishers?

Develop a new game,or more likely rehash an old one.

Ramp up violence for initial release.

Use outrage to replace cost of marketing and advertising.

Return violence back to original level.

Sell shedloads to impressionable idiots.

Tweaked ...

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 13:19 GMT

... so that now you don't kill the gangs, you merely run up and "tag" them.

The next title in the series is going to be the most risque as Manhunt 3: Kiss chase.

Take2 needed it

Posted Tuesday 28th August 2007 13:29 GMT

I am all for artistic expression but Take2 needed to have their wrists slapped.

Wasn't the land of the free in the front of the queue in giving it an AO rating, which is as good as a ban?

Has everyone everywhere been able to play it apart from us Brits?
