Daewoo to debut iPod dock DVD player at IFA

Daewoo is set to unveil a portable DVD player with a built-in iPod dock at the IFA consumer electronics show in Berlin on Friday. The player's other capabilities include an 8in widescreen display, memory card slot and a USB port for Flash drives.

Dubbed the DPC-8099PD-I, the device is described as an "elegantly designed flat DVD laptop". The brief fails to mention which specific iPod models are supported, but the loading bay looks big enough to support the larger size iPod models.

The specs also note that the device can play DVD, CD and CD-R/RW media, in addition to MP3, JPG and DivX files. It also incorporates a slot for SD and MMC memory cards, and the specs briefly mention that a USB port is included for connection of a Flash drive to the player.

The player holds a striking resemblance to Daewoo's existing portable DVD player, the DPC7600P, which has a 7in widescreen LCD. It also features anti-shock protection, a remote control, built-in stereo speakers and a headphone jack, so it's a good bet the new model will offer all these too.

Unfortunately, there's no information available about when we might expect to see the DPC-8099PD-I in the shops or how much it will cost. So, Register Hardware will be keeping an eye out for you at IFA this week.
