IFA 07 LG is either chasing the girls or getting in touch with its feminine side through its latest creations. The company has announced the Design Art range, which includes LCD TVs and is claimed to be beautiful both when in use and when switched off.
LG's Design Art LCD: pretty as a picture
The LCD range was unveiled at the IFA show in Berlin and will be available in two models: the LF75, which ships as a 37, 42, 47 or 52in display, and the LB74, which is available as either a 26 or 32in screen.
The LF75 sports the more sophisticated capabilities - it provides a 1080p HD display and with a high-end 10,000:1 contrast ratio. The LB75 has the lesser 1080i resolution.
Both sets come with three HDMI ports - as does Philips Aurea LCD telly (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/08/30/ifa_philips_aurea/) - and include LG's so-called Intelligent Eye technology, which, it claims, helps optimise brightness and contrast to guard against eye fatigue.
The speakers on both models are also placed behind a special film that apparently helps to maintain both sets' clean lines, without compromising sound quality.
Design is the range's real focus though, with the design drenched in glossy piano-black and with a steel or black stand, dubbed "the balance ring".
The LCDs are rumoured to range between $1400 (£700/€850) and $2800 (£1400/€1620), but no official word has yet been given for pricing or availability.
LG's Champagne Home Cinema System: the world's first drinkable speakers?
LG also took the stage to unveil the Design Art Champagne Home Cinema System – essentially four speakers modelled on a pair of champagne flutes, capable of producing 700 watts of sound and designed to complement its latest LCD TVs.
The manufacturer hasn't given any official word has been given yet on when they will hit the market, or how much they will cost.
