Toshiba to tempt Matrix buffs with freebie HD DVD player
Turn up at the right shop, at the right time
5th September 2007 10:51 GMT
Buy a copy of the HD DVD Complete Matrix Trilogy box set from HMV's 150 Oxford Street, London store next Monday morning and you could walk away with a freebie Toshiba HD-E1 HD DVD player too.

Buy this HD DVD, get this HD DVD player (sort of)

In what might be seen as a desperate attempt to boost take-up of the next-gen optical technology in the face of - relatively speaking - colossal Sony PlayStation 3 sales, or simply a bid to get Keanu Reeves and/or Carrie Ann Moss fans forming a photogenic queue around the store, Warner Home Video and Toshiba will give a player to each of the first 150 folk who buy the box-set from the shop on 10 September.
Sales kick off at 8am, and the first 400 people through the door will get a goodie bag, the promoters told us.
Toshiba's HD-E1 is its first-gen European HD DVD player, launched late last year. It supports up to 1080i HD output.
