AMD readies DirectX 10.1, DisplayPort GPU updates10th September 2007 10:11 GMT AMD will early next year update its ATI Radeon HD 2400 and 2600 graphics chip series for DirectX 10.1's Shader Model 4.1, it has been claimed. Related stories
According to Taiwanese graphics card industry moles cited by local newssite DigiTimes, the new chips will be based on two cores, the 'RV635' and the 'RV620, respectively successors of the 2400 - aka 'R630' - and the 2600, originally known as 'R610'. Both new parts will support PCI Express 2.0 and the DisplayPort digital display interface, it's said, in addition to the aforementioned new version of Microsoft's gaming foundation, DirectX. The cores are said to be fabbed at 55nm, with upgraded, 800MHz clock frequencies.
