AMD launches Radeon HD 2900 Pro26th September 2007 14:58 GMT AMD has rolled out a new graphics card to fill a gap beneath its current top-of-the-line ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT.
The ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro's 320 unified Stream processors are clocked at 600MHz, down from the 2900 XT's 740MHz. Its 512MB of GDDR 3 memory connects over a 512-bit bus and runs at 800MHz, 40MHz less than the 2900 XT's video memory. Related stories
The memory controller's also capable of supporting GDDR 4, and there's already talk of an alternative 2900 Pro with 1GB of GDDR 4 memory on board. Boards sport a pair of dual-link DVI ports, and we'd expect them to come with an HDMI adaptor. There's video input port too, linked to the on-board AMD Xileon HDTV encode chip. The card is ready for CrossFire multi-GPU set-ups. It's compatible with DirectX 10 and Shader Model 4.0. There's no word yet on pricing or availability. 1 comment posted — Comment period finished Can I have one?Posted: 16:31 26th September 2007
