Nvidia brings forward G92 launch?
The better to compete with AMD's latest, apparently

Nvidia's G92 graphics chip, originally scheduled for a 12 November launch, will now appear on 29 October, Far Eastern moles have claimed.
The allegation comes by way of DigiTimes, which notes the G92 will go on sale as the GeForce 8800 GT. Past reports had the G92 coming in as the GeForce 8950, but perhaps that sounds too much like Radeon HD 2950 Pro, which is the AMD product the new Nvidia part is claimed to be positioned against.
And in any case there's no reason why G92 shouldn't come in at a variety of clock and memory speeds, allowing it to be offered as the 8800 GT and the 8950. We shall see.
The DigiTimes report also said the 29 October announcement may encompass G98, a new chip that will form the basis for the follow up to the GeForce 8600 family. That said, it's not clear when this part will go on sale.
