Sure I won't be the first to comment on this but:

"The LF-PB271 is a 3.5in internal unit that connects to its host computer over a SATA link"

I assume it's a 5.25" internal unit. Unless they've gone for a mini-BR disc? (though I reckon that would give you just under 30% of the capacity based on the DVD comparison - just shy of 15Gb? I'd cope with that in a floppy drive bay)

USB 2.0 - or not?

IIs it me, or do the USB 2.0 ports on my laptop seem too slow? I copied some files from a friend onto a USB stick, and they copied quickly. But transferring them onto my machine was very different.

Mac OS X Tiger out, Leopard back in

I couldn't resist. I went back to Leopard. I've been running Apple's latest operating system for well over a month now, originally 10.5.1 and now 10.5.2, with no untoward effects...
