Most people seeking a portable gaming system are happy with a Sony PSP. But in the US, where everything’s larger, one company has developed a PC-in-a-box product that unpacks into a three-screen display.
Acme's LPG370TS: fold-out three-screen display
Two of the Acme’s LPG370TS' 17in non-widescreen LCDs unfold outwards to reveal the third. Together, they create a 3840 x 1024 screen that Acme claims is ideally suitable for "gaming and video applications".
The screens are housed in a protective metal carry-case, which also conceals a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU and two Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX graphics cards running in SLI co-operative rendering mode. Acme’s thrown in 2GB of DDR 2 memory, and the whole lot sits on an Nvidia nForce 680i chipset.
The unit has an integrated keyboard and a mouse, along with an unspecified number of USB 2.0 ports for other peripherals. Although the LPG370TS looks quite heavy, there's no mention of the unit’s weight.
Acme isn't releasing the product’s availability or cost just yet, but would-be buyers can pop over to the company's website (http://www.acmeportable.com/3-LCD-Surround-System/LPG370TS.html) and request a quote.
