Taiwan's E-Ten has unwrapped its latest Glofiish smartphone, the X600: a slim tablet-like handset that packs in Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 2.0, all for what the company promised would be an "affordable price".
E-Ten's Glofiish X600: metal casing
What will you get for your money? A 107 x 58 x 14.7mm, 136g handset that's based around a 2.8in, 240 x 320, 65,536-colour display. It runs Windows Mobile 6 Pro on a 400MHz Samsung CPU backed by 64MB of Ram and 128MB of Rom.
The phone's wireless networking support stretches to 802.11b/g, and it'll connect to Bluetooth 2.0 devices at Extended Data Rate (EDR) speeds. As a cellular device, the X600 supports quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge connectivity.
Compact and feature-rich
There's a two-megapixel camera round the back and a Micro SD card slot to boost the X600's storage capacity. The GPS pick-up is based on a SirfStar III chip, but navigation and map software come extra - though that does mean you get to choose which one you want.
E-Ten claimed the X600 has a talktime of 5-6 hours while the 1530mAh battery will run for 150-170 hours in stand-by mode. GPS usage is clocked at 5-7 hours, while using the X600 purely as a PDA will yield 12-14 hours operating time, the company said.
The X600 is due to go on sale mid-November for around £330 ($688/€475)
