Nokia confused over handset’s features7th December 2007 11:04 GMT The Christmas party season has taken its toll on Nokia. The Finnish phone giant yesterday became slightly confused over the capabilities of its latest handset, the 6263.
The 6263’s website claimed the phone has a two-megapixel camera with a built-in flash. It also suggested the 6263, due to be offered exclusively through T-Mobile USA, had 3G capabilities. However, the phone’s launch announcement said it has a 1.3-megapixel camera, no flash and just dual-band GSM carrier connectivity. Today, a Nokia spokeswoman confirmed to Register Hardware that the information in its press release was correct, making the phone rather less technically abled than the handset's own website claimed. Said site has now been changed.

The 6263 features a 2.2in, 240 x 320 internal display capable of displaying 16m colours. Its second external display measures 1.3in in the diagonal, but can only display 256,000 colours. A 512MB Micro SD card is thrown in, but the phone accepts cards of up to 4GB, meaning you won’t have to worry about running out of storage space for your pictures. You can also use the capacity to store music, because the phone handles a range of audio formats, including MP3 and WMA. Currently the Nokia 6263 is only available in the US for an, as yet undisclosed, price. So, don’t get your hopes up for finding it at the bottom of your UK stocking this Christmas. 2 comments posted — Comment period finished "don’t get your hopes up"Posted: 11:08 7th December 2007 Hopes...Posted: 13:11 7th December 2007 |
