The company has confirmed that it will no longer sell the two different capacity models in its home region from March this year, although it hasn’t officially stated the reason for its decision. However, several online reports have suggested that the move is designed to allow Sony to concentrate on sales of its 40GB capacity PS3, which launched in Japan in November and is thought to be cheaper to produce than the two other models. The 40GB PS3 currently retails there for around ¥40,000 (£185/€250/$365). The last shipment of 20GB and 60GB PS3s to Japan will be later this month. 26 comments posted — Comment period finished PS2 Backwards compatibility to go for good too?Posted: 12:58 10th January 2008 SmartPosted: 13:09 10th January 2008 Huge Error?Posted: 13:20 10th January 2008 RE: Huge Error?Posted: 13:38 10th January 2008 nope, not a huge errorPosted: 13:39 10th January 2008 |
