Palm punts unlocked Treo 500 smartphone25th January 2008 11:58 GMT Palm Europe has released the unlocked version of its compact Treo 500v handset, previously only available on the Vodafone network. The Treo 500 - available now for £269 - runs Windows Mobile 6 Standard on a Marvell XScale processor.

It's got a 320 x 240, 65,536-colour display; tri-band GSM/GPRS connectivity and 3G; Bluetooth 2.0 with Extended Data Rate (EDR) technology; 256MB of Flash memory, of which 150MB is available to the user; a two-megapixel camera; and a Micro SD expansion slot. The small phone sports a Qwerty microkeyboard on is 110 x 61.5 x 16.5mm frame. It weighs 120g, with its 1200mAh battery on board - the power cell's good for 4.5 hours' talk time and ten days on standby, Palm claimed. Related Reviews
