The computer mouse already has had many, many incarnations, including types optimised for gaming (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/08/24/razer_lachesis/), covered with an anti-bacterial coating (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/09/04/iogear_mouse/), VoIP-enabled (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/01/28/voip_mouse/) and even inflatable (http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2008/02/01/jellyclick_mouse/). Until now though, users have been unable to shape a mouse precisely to the contours of their palm.
Lite-On Technology's Moldable Mouse: whatever shape you want it to be
Enter the Moldable Mouse, a concept created by designers at technology manufacturer Lite-On, that can be kneaded into different shapes. It’s made of lightweight modelling clay and covered in a nylon and polyurethane blend fabric.
Click buttons and a touch-sensitive scroll pad stick onto the mouse and communicate with the unit's host computer by radio. The mouse isn’t just a lump of clay - hidden inside are laser optics, batteries and a printed circuit board.
Its designers claim the Moldable Mouse helps users eliminate the risks associated with traditional hard plastic mice, such as Carpel Tunnel Syndrome.
Unfortunately, because the design’s still a concept, no release date or price has been yet hammered out.
