Flick-knife-style Wii remote USB stick21st February 2008 09:02 GMT When Register Hardware first caught sight of the Wedisk, we thought some dastardly being had shrunken the Remote for our office’s Wii. However, the device is actually a miniature USB flash drive shaped like the console’s controller, but with a difference. Can't see the video? Download Flash Player from Adobe.com Related stories
The Wedisk is a sort of flick knife for gamers, because a press of the Remote’s A key sees a retractable USB 2.0 jack shoot out of the top. Although it’s not likely to do anyone any serious bodily damage, it does mean that you’ll be well equipped should someone wish to challenge you to a data transfer duel. You have to admire the pen’s design, which is pretty identical to the real thing, aside from the obvious miniature size of 85 x 20 x 18mm. We were disappointed to note though that blue lights don’t appear on the pen during a data transfer, as they would whilst using the Remote with the Wii. A LED ring does appear around one of the buttons when the Wedisk is in use, but somehow it’s not the same. Users can choose between a 1G, 2G, 4G or 8GB Wedisk in either white or black and it's compatible with both PC and Mac. The Wedisk is available now online, but a price hasn’t been given. 3 comments posted — Comment period finished This is a stick-up!Posted: 10:39 21st February 2008 What on earth is the point?Posted: 22:02 21st February 2008 The point is:Posted: 23:44 21st February 2008
