If you’re thinking of driving Route 66 this summer, then you’ll need lots of travelling music. Sony has created an in-car stereo system that boasts more connectivity than you can shake a stack of truck-stop pancakes at, lashings of maple syrup and all.
The MEX-BT3600U is an in-car CD tuner at heart. However, under the hood hides Bluetooth compatibility allowing users to wirelessly stream music from an A2DP-enabled audio source. If you’re already part of the Sony clan you can stream music to the system from a Walkman handset.
Sony's MEX-BT3600U: Music and calls over Bluetooth
The MEX-BT3600U also has a USB port, allowing truckers and road hogs to plug MP3 players directly into the unite.
You won’t have to pull over to have telephone conversations either. The MEX-BT3600U has an echo-cancellation microphone built into the front panel that, combined with the player’s Bluetooth connectivity, allows for wireless telephone calls from your mobile phone.
Music is automatically paused when a call is accepted and resumed when the call’s ended.
An infrared remote control is also supplied with the system.
Sony’s MEX-BT3600U will be available in Europe from May. A price hasn’t been transmitted yet.
