Anyone that’s dropped their iPhone knows the feeling of sickness as it tumbles toward the ground. Now the resulting body scrapes can be prevented with a case that covers the entire phone, but doesn’t interfere with the touchscreen.
ivyskin's Xylo Touch-Thru: prevent scratched screens
Manufacturer ivyskin claims the Xylo Touch-Thru (T2) is the first hard case that covers every inch of the Jesus Phone, except for the side buttons, docking port, power switch and home key, of course.
The hard case protects all of your phone
It’s claimed that the case, which is coated in "a patent-pending material that conducts continuous electrical currents across the front panel" and uses “Surface Xylo Wave technology” to pass ultrasonic waves over the case’s touchscreen area.
When a user touches the panel, a break in the ultrasonic wave is registered and the location is sent “to the iPhone’s screen for processing”. The manufacturer also claims the front panel responds to gloved fingers.
How this thing generates ultrasonic waves without an apparent power source remains a mystery. Ditto the nature of the conducting material, though it's said to be made in Germany, so it must be technically advanced, no? The rest of the T2 is good, old-fashioned polycarbonate plastic.
If you believe the hype, then the Xylo T2 iPhone case is available now online (http://ivyskin.com/detail.php?proid=54) for $35 (£17/€22).
